Boone Speaks Following UNC Visit

With the de-commitment of Cade Thompson, Greg Boone of Chesapeake (Va.) Smith becomes one of the major targets for North Carolina's 2005 recruiting class. Moving one step closer to earning Boone's February signature, the Tar Heels coaching staff hosted the Scout.com three-star quarterback this past weekend for his fourth and final official visit.

"It went all right," Greg Boone said. "I just met the coaches, some of the players, just hanging out with the players and stuff.

"The atmosphere was different from my other visits. There are more colleges that surround North Carolina then the other schools."

In addition to his trip to Chapel Hill, Boone has visited West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Maryland. He figures to decide between the four schools by mid-week, weighing the pros and cons of each. The 6-foot-3, 250-pounder seems to have a firm grip on the pros of UNC.

"I like the team unity, the coaching staff; I just liked the things that they do," stated Boone.

Right now, Boone claims that all four schools are even and that he has a hard decision ahead of him.

Sometimes compared to Daunte Culpepper, Boone has more potential to play many different positions at the next level.
