Stahl: 'I'm A Tar Heel'

Standout Venice Senior High School defensive end Aaron Stahl has concluded his recruitment by singing his letter of intent Wednesday morning, and the relief of the moment causes him to evoke images of Atlas.

"It is like having a giant boulder taken of my shoulders and back," Stahl said after a signing ceremony with friends and family. "I'm a Tar Heel, and that is something I've wanted for a long time and been set on for a year and a half. It is great for it to be set in stone."

Stahl, who says that he is fully qualified and plans to be on campus in June to take a class and begin working out with his new teammates, stands 6-3 and weighs 280 pounds. He has high praise for the other members of his class, particularly those he will be matched up against in practice.

"This class is going to be a great one for us. We have a lot of really talented people coming in, and some of the offensive linemen are just huge. There was one who was like 6-8 who I visited with," Stahl said with a chuckle, referring to Garrett Reynolds.

"I'm just so excited to be coming in with these guys and can't wait to get there. I think that we'll be successful together."

Right now, though, Stahl is just thrilled to be able to know with certainty that he'll be heading to the school he has wanted to play for throughout the process.

"I'm just glad that I won't have to deal with any of the recruiting stuff anymore and can focus on school and getting ready to do the best I can at Carolina," he said.
