Four Tar Heels On All-ACC Academic Team

Greensboro, N.C. -- Four University of North Carolina football players, including center Jason Brown, offensive tackle Brian Chacos, quarterback Darian Durant and linebacker Doug Justice, have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic football team, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Durant, the league's seventh all-time leading passer with 8,755 yards, heads up a list of 20 players that are repeaters from last year's All-Academic team. Durant set 51 school records and graduated in December with a degree in African American history. This fall he had 3.48 GPA.

A linebacker from Port Orange, Fla., Justice is on the Academic All-ACC team for the third consecutive season with a GPA of 3.65 in psychology and communications. He started the final five games of the season and had 48 tackles, including six tackles for losses.

A first-team All-ACC selection in 2004, Brown had a perfect 4.0 GPA in communications this fall. He earned first-team All-ACC honors and was a first-team All-America by Pro Football Weekly. A native of Henderson, N.C., Brown made the Academic All-ACC team for the second straight season.

Chacos, a junior offensive tackle, earned academic honors from the ACC for the first time this season with a 3.1 GPA in sociology. Chacos started all 12 games and was a standout blocker in Carolina's run to the Continental Tire Bowl.
