Spikes to Revisit Chapel Hill

Like many other blue chip prospects from the Tar Heel State, Brandon Spikes of Shelby (N.C.) Crest made the trip to Chapel Hill Saturday to attend Tom Lemming's Annual Road Trip Photo Shoot.

But unlike many of his fellow attendees, however, Spikes didn't stick around for North Carolina's Junior Day.

"I didn't stay for the Junior Day, I just went there to get my picture taken for Tom Lemming and I left," explained Spikes. "But, I'm going back down there though next week – on Sunday [March 6th for the second Junior Day]."

UNC is among the schools found on Spikes's continuously expanding offers list that also includes N.C. State, South Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

Additionally, the Tar Heels are in pretty good standing with the 6-foot-4, 225-pound jumbo athlete in this early stage of his recruitment.

"I like [UNC]," stated Spikes. "I like that it's in-state and close to home. I'm just going to check other schools out to see what happens."

A four-year starter at perennial state powerhouse Crest, Spikes started at defensive end as a freshman and then moved to linebacker his sophomore year, his current home. With Spikes averaging close to ten tackles a game, Crest has won the NCHSAA 3A State Title the past two seasons.
