State Playoffs: Eric Wallace

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Despite foul trouble and turnovers, and having to fight off a late rally, Glenn and its sophomore leader Eric Wallace prevailed, 63-59, over Jacksonville, in Wednesday's 3-A Eastern Regional semifinal at Minges Coliseum.

"Chris [Jacobs] and Irshad [Martin] got in foul trouble early. I just looked at the team and said ‘It's time to go, let's kick it into gear,'" said Eric Wallace, who totaled 20 points and eight boards.

"We were short down low, but we just kept doing what coach told us to do and we came up with the win."

The win puts Glenn (25-5) in Saturday's 3 p.m. regional championship against a team they've faced three times (and beaten once) this season – Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley.

"We play in what's considered one of the toughest conferences in the state. … At the beginning [of the season], we started off good, but then we lost to Dudley," Wallace said.

"That showed us that we weren't where we needed to be and so we got serious in practice and serious in the game. It's like coach said in the locker room, we're almost there, we just need to keep working hard."

Eric Wallace Stats: FG: 5-of-9, FT: 10-of-12, 3-Pt: 0-of-1, 20 points, 8 rebounds (3 offensive, 5 defensive), 1 assist, 1 block, 1 steal, 31 minutes
