It's difficult to talk about this game. They were certainly sensational but that was due in large part to our defense. It was nonexistent in the first half. It was just an awful performance. The biggest reason that they got so many shots was that our defensive intensity just wasn't good, especially in the first half."
On why Brian Morrison started the second half at the point and if this will happen more often
I don't know, I would have to look at the tape. I don't see … I just thought he and Jackie (Manuel) didn't turn the ball over in the first half. Melvin (Scott) and Adam (Boone) and Brian combined for three assists and 13 turnovers (for the game) and that's not very good.
When asked if the defense is improving in practice, and if so why doesn't it show in the games.
We try to work on things and we did concentrate on defense the last few days. But it's hard to simulate in practice the players you'll be playing against. It's hard to simulate (Wake's) Josh Howard in practice or (Wake's Darius) Songaila in practice or (Wake's) Taron Downey's quickness. That might be the biggest factors.
On the season
It takes a big toll. It's hard, it's very difficult. You don't want to lose anything, but if you have to choose, you'd prefer to lose on a last-second shot than get beaten this way.
We have a choice – we can work hard or we can just go through the motions. If we don't work hard, we're going to be embarrassed in front of our home crowd. That's the big thing with me – to go out and fight and work hard. And I don't feel like we did that tonight, especially in the first half.
