"We were saying let's try to get back to the Smith Center and practice. This group loves to practice more than any group I've ever been around. I thought they came out focused and we're very happy."

On how May as improved over the last year:
"Physically, he's come as far in one year as any player I've ever coached."

On his team's determination:
"We were determined to play a lot better. I think they are determined, but they also know that it's just one game."

On his team's depth:
"When we sub, there's a lot of ways our team gets better. We were a little more fresh, and that helps with the way we like to play."

On preparing to play next weekend:
"We have a saying for our team – let's get better every day. Other than Marvin, I've got a pretty experienced team. They just haven't experienced lots of success."

On his team's talent:
"This team is getting better because they're realizing that five guys play better together. People talk about talent too much. Give me five guys who will work their butts off."

"Today the focus; nothing careless and nothing casual. Today it was our intensity and our willingness to play."

"It got pretty dirty out there at times, but we stayed focused and kept our heads in the game and won."

On going to the Sweet 16 for the first time:
"Of course we can appreciate it; my class and I have never been there before, so we're going to enjoy it."


On how UNC got the big lead:
"We really took advantage of their missed shots and converted those into points. We knew they had a thin bench, we just wanted to run ‘em, run ‘em, run ‘em."

On UNC's play:
"We need to play a little better. We let [Jared] Homan get too many rebounds in there."

On Marvin Williams:
"Marvin has been playing incredible all year. It's no surprise to us how well he has played."

On the team's mindset heading into the Sweet 16:
"We're not going to be overconfident about the whole situation. Villanova is very good."


On avoiding a second half letdown:
"Jackie [Manuel] told us coming out of the locker room, ‘We're not coming out flat today.'"
