VU's Sumpter Out For UNC Game

Villanova junior forward Curtis Sumpter suffered a torn ligament in his left knee in the second round game against Florida on Sunday and is out for the remainder of the NCAA Tournament.

"This is unfortunate for Curt," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "I feel for him. He is such a warrior and has played through a lot to get to this point. The good news for Curt is that he will recover and be 100 percent by the time next season rolls around. Curt is very mature and he looks forward to lending his leadership skills to our team through the rest of the NCAA Tournament."

Sumpter started 29 games this season, averaging 15.3 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds, while shooting 43.3 percent (also a team high) on three-point attempts.
