Calvin Darity Out Four Months

Offensive lineman Calvin Darity suffered a foot injury in practice and is sidelined indefinitely, according to head coach John Bunting.

"He shattered his foot in a scrimmage ... he had very serious surgery," Bunting told Raleigh radio station WRBZ Thursday afternoon.

A UNC spokesperson told Inside Carolina late Friday afternoon that Darity is scheduled to be out for four months.

Darity, who redshirted his freshman season last year, arrived from Tallahassee, Fla. as one of the nation's most heralded offensive line prospects, choosing Carolina over nearby Florida State.

"We're hopeful ... he gets well and and we hope he has some football left in him, but that remains to be seen," Bunting added. "This is going to be really, really tricky for Calvin."
