McCants and Grant links

Up in New Hampshire, the Union Leader has an impressive feature on Tar Heel signee Rashad McCants.

His name is Rashad McCants and he will take your breath away. He is 6-foot-3 with a 200-pound body sculpted from granite. He has the wing span of a man six inches taller and, as they say, mad hops ...

"He strikes me as a mini-Jerry Stackhouse," said high school scouting guru Tom Konchalski. "Very strong, very athletic. His greatest improvement in his two years at New Hampton is that he's become a better perimeter shooter."

Michael Kruse, of Basketball America, reports on senior center Damion Grant, who has committed to UNC, at the National Prep School Invitational.

"I know there are a lot of expectations on me," the affable big man said Sunday night. "When I sit and think about it, I sometimes say to myself, 'This is going to be a big jump for me.' A very big jump.

"I'm going to have to bust my ass, and I have no problem with that. I want to be a part of the Carolina basketball tradition."
