White: 'I Really Like Carolina'

North Carolina still remains as the lone offer for Johnny White of Asheville (N.C.) HS. Although far from committing, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound tailback admits being his first offer has put the Tar Heels into a special category.

"Yes, that first offer is special," said White. "But I'm still going to wait it out to see who else is going to offer."

Virginia, Wake Forest, Clemson, and Maryland seem like the most likely candidates to follow the Heels with an offer.

With track monopolizing most of his time, White hasn't had the opportunity to unofficially visit many campuses like most of his peers. However, he did get the chance to attend two of North Carolina's junior days, where he received his scholarship offer and the chance to dive deeper into the Tar Heels' program.

"I really like Carolina," said White. "I like the coaching staff and just the environment around there – it's a nice atmosphere."

North Carolina is – obviously – the only school to offer both Asheville boys – White and defensive back Crezdon Butler. White admits that the two have talked about a package deal, providing North Carolina with an additional edge.

A very complete ‘back, White ran a legit 4.53 forty-yard dash time on grass during Scout.com's All-American Combine. As a junior he used that speed to rush for 2,167 yards and 34 touchdowns on just 227 carries (9.55-average).
