UNC-FSU Postgame Notes

<p>CHAPEL HILL – For just the seventh time in the 2001-02 season the North Carolina Tar Heels experienced the thrill of victory in a 95-85 victory over Florida State.

Here are some game notes of the Tar Heels' seventh victory in 23 games and third Atlantic Coast Conference triumph in 13 contests.

*Carolina is now 28-7 all-time against Florida State. UNC is 8-3 at the Dean Dome against the Seminoles and 11-3 overall in Chapel Hill.

*The Tar Heels are now 2-11 in 2002 and 5-7 at home overall.

*Carolina's third ACC victory of the season means there are four teams tied with three conference wins apiece. FSU, Georgia Tech and Clemson also have three conference wins. The bottom two clubs will meet in the 8-9 play-in game at the ACC Tournament.

*The victory also means UNC may still have chance to avoid finishing in the cellar of the ACC for the first time ever. *The 19 turnovers by FSU equals the most UNC has forced in a game this year. St. Joseph's also coughed it up 19 times.

*Adam Boone has combined for 51 points in UNC's last two victories (Clemson and FSU).

*When Boone leads the Heels in scoring they are 2-0.

*UNC has used 10 different starting lineups this year. The lineup of Capel, Will Johnson, Lang, Melvin Scott and Boone is 1-3. The lineup of Scott, Jackie Manuel, Capel, Johnson and Lang is 2-4. The lineup of Scott, Manuel, Capel, Johnson and Brian Bersticker is 3-0. The lineup of Scott, Boone, Capel, Williams and Lang is 1-1. The other six lineups are a combined 0-9.

*Entering the game Carolina had shot 50.1 percent in victories this season and were at 39.4% in losses. UNC also came in averaging 87.2 points per game in wins and 64.9 in defeat.

*Entering Sunday's game, UNC had a 5.2 rebounding margin per game edge in wins and a 5.8 per game deficit in losses.

*After at least sharing the scoring lead for UNC in seven of its first 12 games, Capel has led the Tar Heels ins coring just once since the 33-point loss at Maryland on Jan. 9 when he tied a career high with 27 points.

*After leading the Heels in scoring just twice in the first 12 games, Lang has paced the Heels seven times in the last 13 games.

*In the six games that either Capel or Lang have NOT led UNC in scoring the Heels are 4-2. Scott scored 15 points in the 58-54 loss to Davidson. Brian Morrison tallied 21 points in the 83-77 win over Georgia Tech. Williams topped UNC with 12 points in a 61-60 victory over Binghamton. Adam Boone registered 23 points in an easy 87-69 win at Clemson. Morrison totaled 12 points in the 87-58 home loss to rival Duke and Boone hit for 28 in today's win over Florida State.
