No Commitment Yet For Williams

After the verbal commitment of Kendric Burney, rumors began to swirl that Deunta Williams would join his friend and fellow Jacksonville (N.C.) native on North Carolina's 2006 commitment list. Those rumors hit their peak this week when Williams, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound athlete from Jacksonville (N.C.) White Oak, attended the Tar Heels' three-day camp.

"No I have not committed – no sir," said Williams.

Did he think about committing at camp this week?

"Somewhat, but not really. I just want to make sure everything is good and all that."

The rumors have really begun to take its toll on Williams and his recruitment.

"A lot of people are believing a lot of hype and that's really not making me too happy right now," said Williams. "Everybody keeps believing that I'm already committed to Carolina and that's not true. I would tell them out of respect [if I did commit]. The coach from Virginia called – the guy that's recruiting me – and he thought that I've already committed."

With his favorites, things have stayed status quo.

"It's still UNC, [N.C.] State, and South Carolina my top three," said Williams. "I guess you can say UNC is still my favorite."

Earlier in the week Williams attended Project Uplift, which he found to be an "exciting and influential experience." Williams had an equally good time at the three-day camp – so much that he stayed an extra day.

"The camp went really, really well," said Williams. "They treated me really, really good – I really appreciate that. I got an excellent feel from North Carolina this week."

The next school camp date on his schedule is NC State sometime in July.
