May rounded out his contribution to the win with 5 blocks and 2 steals. In a conversation with Sean this morning, he noted the majority of his shots came from breakaway layups and putbacks on offensive rebounds, with 10 feet being the farthest out for one of his shots.
Franklin came into the title game as the Cinderella team, having advanced to the finals of Sectional 14 with a 3-18 record. And, for three quarters, Bloomington North dominated the upstart Franklin team.
Franklin caught on fire in the fourth quarter largely on the play of Todd Miller who finished with 21 points and drew to within 1 point (55-54) with 30 seconds to play. Bloomington North then spread the floor and free throws provided the winning margin.
Sean commented to Inside Carolina about the game, "They just came back [fourth quarter]. They played pretty well. We had them by 15 or 16. Last night we were a little bit tired and perhaps still celebrating the Columbus East win [from the night before]. We could tell we were tired and we let them back in the game. Normally we wouldn't do that."
Bloomington North now advances to regional playoffs which will begin on March 9th, and should they keep winning, will play Semi-state on 3/16 and Indiana state 4A finals on 3/23. Their opponent in the regional playoffs will be either Martinsville, IN or Terre Haute South (IN), to be determined in a sectional final on Monday night, 3/4.
