Durant To Texas

While the announcement was set for Thursday afternoon, word leaked out fast on Wednesday morning that Kevin Durant has decided to commit to Texas.

Durant, a 6-foot-9, 200-pound rising senior senior forward at Oak Hill Academy who is Scout.com's No. 2 player in the nation, will commit to Texas, according to sources close to the situation.

"It's done," one source said. "And it's shocking."

Durant will make an official announcement on Thursday afternoon and will choose the Longhorns over UConn and North Carolina. According to sources, he and his father, Wayne Pratt, have called each of the three schools to inform them of the decision.

While many people had Durant pegged to follow his high school and summer teammate, Tywon Lawson, to North Carolina, sources indicated that the Tar Heels -- once seen as the leader -- were actually the first school of the trio to be eliminated from the picture.

As one of the top prospects in the class, Durant is considered a serious threat to enter the NBA Draft next spring, pending the age limit.
