"I kind of felt like I didn't really fit in with the players – they're all from New Jersey and up there. So I felt like I didn't fit in with them and I don't love lacrosse like I love football.
"I don't want to pass up the opportunity to play college football, which I've been dreaming about doing since I was four [years old]."
Taylor, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound tight end/wide receiver from Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor, has scholarship offers to play football from Vanderbilt, North Carolina, and Wake Forest.
With lacrosse out of the way, Taylor now focuses on his football recruitment, which hasn't changed too much in the last few weeks.
"Everything is still the same – Carolina is on top," said Taylor. "I think I'm pretty close to a commitment there.
"I want to go home and talk to my parents, but I think it will be before the end of the month."
Taylor has decided not to camp at Virginia Tech and Tennessee as originally planned, and has concluded his summer camping schedule.
