UNC Makes Push For Md. DB

One of the top defensive backs in Maryland is Travon Bellamy from Eleanor Roosevelt High School. The 6-0, 185 pound safety has added a new ACC offer. He names his list of favorites.

"I would have to say my favorites are UCLA, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, Michigan State, Purdue, Vanderbilt, and Notre Dame," Bellamy rattled off. "I don't have an overall favorite. It's all up in the air. I am doing my research on all these schools during the summer."

Bellamy is concentrating on his senior season, and he has remained close at home for the summer.

"I haven't been able to attend any summer camps," he said. "I probably won't go to any because I am trying to stay focused on the team. We are focused on winning the state championship."

One visit he has made is to Chapel Hill - and he came away quite impressed.

"I did go down to North Carolina for an unofficial visit," Bellamy said. "It was sometime in early June. While I was there they offered me a scholarship. It was great to receive an offer from them.

"I am taking a serious look at North Carolina. They play in the ACC where there is guaranteed great competition. They have done an excellent job in recruiting me so far. There would be an excellent chance for me to play as a freshman. North Carolina is a team that is going to be high on my list."

Despite playing in the secondary with five star athlete, Derrick Williams, Bellamy managed to record 72 tackles and seven interceptions. He returned three interceptions for touchdowns.

Though you may not find him on the summer camp circuit, Bellamy can be seen at his high school where he is preparing for his senior season.

"The summer has been going great," Bellamy said. "We have been working out everyday. On Mondays and Wednesdays we have our passing league. Everyone is pushing each other. The defense is looking really good.

"I am focused on having a big-time season." Travon Bellamy Profile
