Heels Offer Jacobs

Replicating the scenes that played out at Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Virginia, and Georgia Tech, Vince Jacobs exited North Carolina's camp Friday with another scholarship offer.

"We want up to Coach [John] Bunting's office and talked to him for about 15 minutes," said Jacobs. "Before we went up there he called his secretary to give us a written scholarship.

"After that we talked to Coach [David] Brock for about another 30-45 minutes. We just went on a tour and talked about Carolina football. He also said that he was sad that he wasn't able to get in contact earlier and how he knows its kind of late since my decision is coming next week. He was just telling us how much he wanted me to be apart of Carolina football."

Jacobs, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound tight end from Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day, plans to announce his future school Tuesday afternoon. In addition to the Tar Heels, Jacobs will choose between Virginia, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and Clemson.

Although he visited the campus almost two years ago when his school made the NCISAA State Championship in basketball, it was Jacobs's first look at Chapel Hill from a football perspective.

"Everything was impressive," said Jacobs. "I was impressed with everything from Franklin Street down to the dorms that we saw. It was just a nice experience and they treated us well and made a nice impression."

The next couple of days the Jacobs family will be sitting down weighing the pros and cons of each of the schools in his final five.

Depending on how he progresses, North Carolina is recruiting Jacobs at tight end with an outside chance at wide receiver.

Jacobs has camped at Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and N.C. State. With the exception of the Wolfpack, Jacobs has landed offers from each school shortly following his performance.
