Heels Offer Duke Crews

Duke Crews has a new offer. Late Monday night, Crews was offered a scholarship by Roy Williams.

"They told me that they had a sincere interest in me," Crews said. "They stressed their interest level in me and told me I had a scholarship there. They liked the way I played and they still have to get to know me."

Crews attends Bethel High, the same school that produced Allen Iverson. He said UNC spoke of a potential visit this fall. The 6-foot-6 ½ Crews, who has over a dozen high-major offers, says he'll weigh UNC's interest accordingly.

"It's something that I'm going to really have to think about," Crews said. "It doesn't get too much better but at the same time it still has to be the right situation for me. Just because it's a big time school that doesn't mean that it's perfect for me."

Illinois, Xavier, St. John's, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, Texas and Oklahoma State have also offered Crews thus far.

Crews will sort through everything after the summer ends. He's got a trip to the Showcase in Orlando planned and Boo Williams takes aim at the AAU National title to end the month.

"I'll break it down after I get finished with the evaluation period," Crews said. "I'll look at what people have, what they've got going and see where I'll be needed the most. I'll go from there."

Dave Telep on Duke Crews: "This is one of the hardest working guys on the circuit. He plays bigger than his size because he rebounds so well. He's extremely strong, very explosive around the rim. He's exactly the kind of guy you would want to pair up with a bigger inside player and let him do his thing."
