Tar Heel Pros news

* Kevin Salvadori arrived in Belgium this morning, departing the Kansas City Knights ABL squad in favor of the Belgian Spirou Charleroi team, which was in search of frontcourt depth for their playoff run. Charleroi is tied atop the league standings with Ed Cota's Oostende club. The 6-10 center graduated from Carolina in 1994, and has since had two stints with the NBA's Sacramento Kings and has played in Italy, China and the now defunct CBA, before joining Kansas City last season. He was averaging 5.0 points, 5.5 boards and 1.9 blocks in 29 games with the Knights this year.

* A representative of the Harlem Globetrotters informed IC that Donald Williams ('95) is no longer with the team.

* There's been a Terrence Newby sighting -- sort of. The 6-2 N.C. native, who played at UNC from 1996-2000, played in the National Alliance Basketball League (NABL) this year. Newby was averaging 11.4 points in five regular season games for the Frankfort (Ky.) Cattle Barons, including twice posting 21 points. The league, which was schedule to continue into April, appears to have been halted early. The last NABL press release was on Feb. 1.
