Randall a Tar Heel

Fresh off the announcement that Johnny White has committed to North Carolina, the Tar Heels reeled in Morgan Randall, a 6-foot-6, 245-pound jumbo athlete from Greenville (N.C.) Rose.

"I have decided to go to [North] Carolina," said Randall. "Last night, my family and I sat down and had a four-hour discussion. I already thought about it a lot before then, but it just all finally came to a head and I just said I'm going to make a decision."

After an unofficial visit to North Carolina Thursday, Randall was assured that North Carolina was the place for him.

"I don't want to say either visit made my decision," said Randall. "But, [visiting each school] was something I definitely wanted to do before I made my decision."

Randall chose the Tar Heels over offers from Navy and East Carolina because of their combination of athletics and academics – plus the family connection.

"I felt that I could probably excel a little more both athletically and academically," said Randall. "I just felt Carolina kind of had the edge on Navy in those areas."

Randall, who is being recruited for offensive tackle by North Carolina, is the 16th member of the 2006 recruiting class and seventh to commit in the month of July.

For his play at defensive end last season, Randall earned Second Team All-Conference honors after accumulating 60 tackles including 7.5 sacks and 10 tackles for a loss.

An excellent student, Randall owns a weighed GPA of 4.5 and a SAT score of 1380.
