Wright, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker from Hampton (Va.) Phoebus, didn't allow his injury to prevent him from participating in one special event with fellow big-time targets Aaron Maybin and Aleric Mullins.
"It wasn't nothing too much," said Wright with a laugh. "They just had us run some defensive schemes and that type of stuff. They were like ‘Here is the future of UNC lineup right here.' I didn't really know the defensive tackle [Mullins] or defensive end [Maybin], they just brought me over there. It was kind of fun, just a little joking around."
Visiting Chapel Hill three times in the past – 2002 Nike Combine, last summer's one-day camp, and last fall's Virginia Tech game, Wright feels he has a good grasp on North Carolina's campus and football program. Therefore, his trip served another purpose.
"I wanted to meet the new linebacker coach," said Wright. "He actually wanted to meet me before they give me an official offer. Coach [Tommy] Thigpen wanted to meet me so I decided to take a [unofficial] visit there."
Although Wright owns an ever changing favorites list, North Carolina is a school that is never left out.
"I'm very high on UNC," said Wright. "I have a high interest in UNC and its one of my top schools."
In addition to the Tar Heels, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Maryland, and N.C. State find themselves on the latest edition of Wright's top five.
On his way to All-District honors, Wright racked up 120 tackles including seven sacks and picked off a pass. He also played tight end where he caught 23 passes for 250 yards and nine touchdowns.
