Did you see anything watching the tape of the scrimmage that you didn't see on film?
"I saw a defense really running to the ball. I saw defensive linemen for the first time since 2001, really get after the offensive line. It's really pleasing to the eye."
What's making the difference?
"I think they're more experience and their stronger/faster. Khalif Mitchell played his best football yesterday and that's really pleasing to see."
Any area that is going to get any extra attention in Week 2?
"As I told the team, like football is one play at a time…this is going to be one day at a time. We need a great week of practice. We need to continue to rotate those tailbacks to see who is going to back up Barrington Edwards. I think I told you that Cooter Arnold played extremely well on Saturday. We're going to continue to work with the quarterbacks to see who is going to back up Matt Baker. Those are the emphasis. We need to continue to install. We need to cut out mental errors which you expect in the first scrimmage. I saw a couple of penalties that probably shouldn't have been called, but that's good. I want them to call it real, real close."
What is the prognosis/status of Jacoby Watkins?
"He did some individual work here today."
OK, so he's back at practice?
"He wasn't full go, and he's not going to be for a while. I think we're turning a corner with this virus that he has."
What kind of virus does he have?
"They've described it as vertigo, which is weird, inner ear type stuff. He's had some dizziness – balance-type stuff. But he did some running around today and everything except go through the team period. So we'll see if he continues to progress."
Did Richie Rich participate in Saturday's scrimmage?
"He had one or two carries, if he had any at all. He played some, but not a lot. He'll be more in the mix, as will Kennedy Tinsley in the next one."
