Lawson To Return To Oak Hill

After a long, difficult process, Tywon Lawson has decided to return to Oak Hill Academy (Va.) for his final season of high school basketball.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound point guard, who committed to North Carolina back in May, was contemplating a return to Bishop McNamara (Md.) until yesterday.

"I decided to go back to Oak Hill," Lawson said on Tuesday morning. "I was up in the air until yesterday."

Lawson said he would have preferred to have been closer to home for his final year before heading to Chapel Hill, but his parents and he came to an understanding that a second go-around at Oak Hill would be the best situation for him.

"Mostly for basketball," Lawson said.

Lawson, who said he is still working out the details on a visit to UNC on the weekend of Sept. 16, won't waste much time after making his decision. He will leave on a flight tonight at 6 p.m. bound for Oak Hill.
