Heels Still Lead For Carmichael

Danny Carmichael is one of the better linebackers still left on the board in the state of Georgia. Last weekend he tripped north to Knoxville to attend the big inter-division battle between the Vols and the Dawgs.

"Coach Caldwell called and invited me up," Carmichael said. "They told me I was a gold-star recruit, which is one of their top recruits. They rank their prospects by the color of the stars.

"They haven't offered yet but they have a bye-week this week and they are going to evaluate me more and maybe come to one of my games."

Tennessee has clearly turned up the heat on Carmichael. What did he think of his visit to Knoxville?

"The atmosphere is crazy. That was the loudest football game I've ever been to," he said. "The facilities look good. They're getting that new 36,000 square foot weight room and everything looks nice. It's just a beautiful place."

Right now, three teams stand out to Carmichael in his recruitment.

"My top 3 are Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina," he said. "I'd say UNC still leads."

Why are the Heels on top?

"It's a great college town," Carmichael explained. "Everything is so beautiful up there. I like the coaches and I really just like North Carolina period."

Carmichael talked about why the two SEC rivals round out his top three.

Tennessee: "I like their fans and their stadium. It has a great atmosphere."

Georgia: "It runs in the family with everybody going to Georgia. Athens is a nice college town. I like Coach Bobo and all the coaches there."

The Woodstock standout will be in Athens in two weeks.

"Georgia wrote me a handwritten letter inviting me to the Arkansas/Georgia game in two weeks," he said. "I plan on going over there."

Last week, Carmichael had an impressive outing - 8 solo tackles, 3 assists and 2 quarterback pressures, as well as 10 rushes for 65 yards on the other side of the ball. Danny Carmichael Profile
