Lemming Undergoes Shoulder Surgery

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- University of North Carolina center Ben Lemming had successful surgery on Thursday to repair a torn ligament in his right shoulder. He will miss the rest of the season.

Lemming initially injured his shoulder in UNC's season opener against Georgia Tech. He sat out the next week against Wisconsin, and returned to play at NC State the following week. He re-injured his shoulder against the Wolfpack and has not played since.

Lemming will receive a medical redshirt this season and have three years of eligibility remaining.

Senior Steven Bell has started the first five games of the season at center. His backup is now senior Arthur Smith.
