Elzy To Visit UNC Next Week

After a senior season in which he ran for over 2,200 yards and 20 touchdowns, Tar Heel commitment Anthony Elzy, a Scout.com, three-star running back from Warren, Ohio, has his winter schedule planned out -- including a trip to Chapel Hill.

"Yeah, I am going up to North Carolina the 9th and th 10th of December," Elzy said.

At one point, he planned to visit other schools, but that does not appear to be the case now.

"I doubt it, I don't think so," Elzy said. "When I was first being recruited, I never thought of North Carolina as my school. When I went down and met the people and the coaching staff, the environment of the campus was like no other college.

"It blew me away and that is what made me fall in love with it at tfirst sight."

Elzy has totaled more than 5,000 yards and 60 touchdowns over the last three seasons for John F. Kennedy High.

"Anthony's a tremendous competitor with a great work ethic," coach Tony Napolet said. "He's very unselfish and he works as hard in practice as he does during the game. You won't find many better than him."

Elzy is ready to run the ball as often as needed next year, and running backs coach Andre Powell is giving him consistent calls throughout the fall.

"They are just getting me mentally ready, letting me know what to expect, and starting to talk about some of the schemes and techniques," Elzy said. "Just coaching me early."
