"Needless to say we feel ecstatic right now, so much better than how we felt after Tuesday's loss to Illinois. I think we played exceptionally hard on Tuesday night, but we just didn't make the plays at crunch time. I think we did make those plays today. When UK made their runs we were able to counter. The two consecutive times they got it down to six or seven, we got Reyshawn (Terry) open underneath and we were able to counter. Reyshawn Terry was really good today. He had been struggling even though his numbers didn't reflect that. I thought David Noel was sensational with seven offensive rebounds. It was also a great day for Wes Miller who came off the bench to give us a big lift with his outside shot. I think that was a huge key for us because the other night we were 2-13 from the three-point line. I think we shot the ball pretty well, but when you look at the statistics Kentucky shot the ball real well themselves. I think our offensive rebounding was important to us in the first half. When we did miss a shot Noel or somebody else got the offensive rebound and put it back in the basket. It was a hard fought win."
On Rajon Rondo
"Rajon Rondo is so hard to keep in front of you as a defensive player. I would have liked to have force Kentucky to take more time off the clock at the end but Rondo is so quick he was able to score from base-line to base-line in three to four seconds."
On North Carolina's freshmen's poise
"Our freshmen were special today. At times we had four freshmen out on the court at the same time. I always put three things on the board and No. 1 was poise and focus. We just have to concentrate on what's going out on the court and not get too uptight about the crowd. I told them if they could here what I was saying from the bench pretty easily, than we were playing pretty well. There were a couple of times today that I was able to say to our guys isn't it nice that you can hear me."
On Terry's play
"I got on Terry the other night in the second half of the game and he reacted very well. Terry came back this week and had a really good week of practice. I jumped on him today because one time Bobby (Frasor) was going down and crossed over and if Reyshawn really had been sprinting he would have had a lay up. He's a young man that wants to do the right thing. He just has to keep his concentration a lot better."
