Shrine Bowl: Watson Adds New Offer

ROEBUCK, S.C. -- Dekoda Watson is impressing more and more coaches each day at the Shrine Bowl practices, but one in-state school saw enough of the South Aiken, S.C. star to make an offer.

"South Carolina offered me a scholarship. Coach Nix left me a message on my phone yesterday on my phone. I didn't get to it because I was sleeping," Watson said. "The next thing I knew, I saw his message around 2, so I couldn't call him back."

With the Gamecocks joining Kentucky and North Carolina having offered Watson, Watson says that the offer coming at this point in the week means a lot to him.

"It shows that I still have some time, and people are still interested in me. I can pull some in after the Shrine Bowl, and that was my original plan, so it is pretty good.

"I want to get as many as I can and then set up my visits, and see where I can visit before February."

Though none of the visits are set, Watson does plan to visit all three offering schools before making a decision.

"They are my third Division I scholarship, so it puts them up there. It doesn't make them my leader; I don't have a leader."
