Carter's Visit Better Than Expected

Bruce Carter, the Tar Heel commitment from from Havelock (N.C.) High School took his official visit to Chapel Hill this weekend.

"It was way better than I expected," Carter said. "The most fun part was hanging out with the other players that are committed to Carolina this year. I hung out a lot with Tavorris Jolly and Deunta Williams."

Carter typifies the type of versatile athlete that North Carolina is recruiting this year.

"I'm not sure where I am going to play," he said. "They talked about me starting out as a linebacker, but we'll have to see. It doesn't really matter to me where I play."

Carter was accompanied by his family for the visit.

"They had a great time [too]," he said. "Not as fun as me but a great time.

"My player host was Richard Quinn and he showed me around campus some. We ate a lot, I can tell you that. I enjoyed talking to all the coaches including Coach Bunting."

The 6-3, 205-pound standout didn't waste much time committing when he got his UNC offer early last year. He committed to the Heels in May.

"I have always been a fan of Carolina so when I got my offer I didn't spend too much time thinking about where I wanted to go," he said. "I looked around a little bit but committed in May. I was solid from day one and other coaches knew it and stopped recruiting me."
