Cota captures Belgian League crown

Former Tar Heels star Ed Cota ended his season in Belgium as a Belgian League champion after scoring 22 points in Oostende's Game 5, dominating 97-70 series-clinching victory over Charleroi.

After the New York Knicks released Cota during training camp, Ed chose to play overseas in Belgium with Telindus Oostende rather than spend a season closer to home in the NBDL, probably with Fayetteville.

His final regular season stats with Oostende were 15.5 points, 4.3 assists and 4.7 boards.

Ademola Okulaja and injury-riddled F.C. Barcelona got off to a shaky start being defeated 80-71 by Tau Ceramica in Game 1 of semifinals playoff action in the Spanish League.

Ademola was back on the court for Barcelona after missing three games with left knee tendinitis. During 25 minutes he contributed 10 points and eight rebounds in the loss. The best-of-five series continues in Barcelona on Saturday.
