Another East Wake Standout Eyes UNC

DaQuann Ross shared defensive line duties with All-American UNC signee Aleric Mullins at East Wake High School. The dynamic duo anchored a Warrior defense that limited opponents to under 170 yards of total offense per game and around 11 points.

Mullins came to East Wake from Missouri but Ross grew up in the Tar Heel state and already knows what college he wants to attend.

"It's all about Carolina for me," Ross said. "That is where I'd like to play someday,"

Although the Tar Heels are the clear early leaders, Ross is also getting plenty of mail from schools such as Virginia Tech, Missouri, Florida State, Maryland, and Tennessee.

Carolina's primary recruiting assistant for East Wake, Kenny Browning, has watched Ross, as has head coach John Bunting.

"Coach Bunting wanted to know what they needed to do to get DaQuann to commit to Carolina after he saw him play," said East Wake assistant coach Chad Davenport. "He's got those long arms and a big body that's hard to find. He's also a very good athlete and could be as good as Aleric and Terry Hunter when it's all said and done."

Ross, along with teammate Carl Brooks, is expected to go to numerous combines and camps this summer. However, Ross is still two years away from suiting up for a college team. He'll complete his eligibility this coming fall at East Wake and is then expected to attend a prep school beginning in the fall of 2007.
