CHAPEL HILL, NC - June 12, 2002 -- Flagship Media, Inc. and Citadel Publishing have announced the re-launch of Inside Carolina Magazine. The overhauled magazine will debut in August 2002 as a monthly publication published ten times a year.
The new and improved Inside Carolina Magazine will be printed entirely on an eye-catching, all-glossy format, similar to other high quality magazines like Sports Illustrated, and will continue to deliver top-notch feature articles on University of North Carolina football and basketball, as it has for the past eight years.
Buck Sanders, the President of Flagship Media, Inc., acquired Inside Carolina Magazine last year and shortly thereafter joined forces with accomplished web publisher Ben Sherman. In less than 12 months since the partnership, InsideCarolina.com has become the Internet's most popular web site covering the Tar Heels. Sherman has been hired as the magazine's Editor-in-Chief.
"With Ben Sherman as our new full-time editor, and our association with Citadel Publishing, we believe that Inside Carolina will establish itself as the premier publication covering football and basketball at the University of North Carolina," Sanders said.
Jim Heckman, CEO of Citadel Publishing, agrees Inside Carolina Magazine represents the future of sports publishing.
"The internet has completely changed the team publishing business forever. It's obvious to me the weekly tabloid is entirely obsolete and at best, redundant. Why would anyone want to pay for a weekly publication? By the time it shows up, the news inside is either old and in some cases, has changed. The internet, on the other hand, offers timely information by the hour. Nobody wants to read a 2,000 word article on their computer. Instead, fans need a magazine with beautiful photography, in-depth feature articles and most of all, a quality keepsake they can save for years as the only viable compliment to online information.
"Our new product answers this need with a monthly, ALL GLOSS, color format and our goal is to create a magazine of such quality, that each magazine will last a lifetime as a collectors piece. We have now created the ultimate package for the true Tar Heels fan: the best time-sensitive news on the web, complimented by a world-class feature-driven gloss magazine!"
The magazine sells for a yearly subscription price of $44.95 and will debut with a price of $39.95 for orders placed online. New orders can be placed online by clicking here.
