Rising junior JamesOn Curry committed to North Carolina on Saturday.

Inside Carolina has confirmed that the 6-2 guard from Mebane, N.C. has given a verbal commitment to the UNC staff. Curry was in Chapel Hill this weekend on an unofficial visit.

"He just really liked coach Doherty and the staff, and also the players they have coming in," Eastern Alamance head coach John Moon told the Charlotte Observer's Gregg Doyel. "This is a great day for JamesOn, and I hope a great day for the University of North Carolina."

Curry averaged 33.1 points as a sophomore, including a 59-point outing, and was named to the AP's First-Team All-State and earned Mr. 2A NCHSAA Basketball honors.

"He grew up being a Carolina fan," Moon told the Durham Herald-Sun. "He likes the program, likes the coaching staff there, and it's close to home. It's a perfect fit for him."
