Weaver Drops by Chapel Hill

Now decommitted from Duke, Doug Weaver decided to make a few unofficial visits this past weekend to two local schools – North Carolina and N.C. State.

"We just went by the schools and watched a little bit of practice and talked to the coaches and basically made a day out of it," said Weaver.

While in Chapel Hill, Weaver spent a good amount of time with head coach, John Bunting.

"[The visit to UNC] went good," said Weaver. "I got to talk to Coach [John] Bunting for a while. It was actually my first time of actually talking one-on-one with him. I like the way he practices."

Weaver, who possesses scholarship offers from Duke, Maryland, N.C. State, and Wake Forest, didn't discuss the possibility of a UNC offer or talk to offensive line coach Mark Weber. He plans to accomplish both in a future trip to North Carolina.

With his recruitment back open, Weaver is looking at N.C. State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, and Duke.

"I feel really good [about North Carolina]," said Weaver. "Now that I've taken my commitment back, I can really look and see if I fit there. My sister goes to school there."

Last season, Weaver played his first season on the offensive line for Roxboro (N.C.) Person and was named to the all-conference and all-area teams for his play at right tackle. The 6-foot-7, 280-pounder graded no less than 85% in each game.

This weekend Weaver is considering attending a spring game at either Wake Forest, North Carolina, or N.C. State.
