NBPA: More on Jefferson

RICHMOND, VA. -- It was more of the same low post dominance on Saturday from debatably the nation's top rising junior, Al Jefferson.

"Another great day for ‘Big Al' -- he just bullies everyone around in the paint Iike it's his job," said IC's Clint Jackson. "I just don't see that kid playing a minute of college basketball, quite honestly."

An important part of his development has been the 45 solid pounds he's put on in the last year. How'd he do it?

"Eat, man," he said, matter-of-factly.

Jackson added, "He has put on so much size. His coach says that he's a big fan of Popeye's Spicy Chicken. I think he might like the buttermilk biscuits as well."

Jefferson is getting letters from just about every major college program, including North Carolina, though Alabama appears to be an early favorite. He also noted a strong interest in Cincinnati, Florida and Georgetown.

But for any player of his size and skill, the NBA is going to come calling.

"I'm going to wait until that time comes," said the 17-year-old Class of 2004 superstar. "I'm still a kid and trying to live that young life."
