Noel Finishes Strong in Portsmouth

North Carolina senior David Noel is in Portsmouth, Va. this week for the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament -- the first of the NBA's pre-draft camps. He's scheduled to play three games, and we'll update this page after each one.

April 7: The Sales Systems squad lost in overtime Friday afternoon to Norfolk Sports Club. Noel finished with 10 points (5-12 FG, 0-2 3pt), 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in a game-high 38 minutes. Norfolk was led by 19 points from Cam Bennerman, plus 16 points and 6 assists from Sean Dockery. With an 0-2 record, Noel's team is done in Portsmouth.

April 6: Noel's team played its first game on Friday night, a 79-74 loss to MD Designs. The Tar Heel recorded 13 points (6-12 FG, 0-3 3pt, 1-2 FT), 6 rebounds and 3 assists in a team-high 32 minutes. His team shot just 32% from the field (20% 3pt), while MD Designs was led by Valparaiso's Mohamed Kone, who had 15 points and 12 boards.

April 5: Noel is on the Sales Systems LTD. team, which includes such players as Daniel Horton (Michigan) and Jamaal Williams (Washington). There are several ACC players on other teams in Portsmouth -- Akin Akingbala (Clemson), Cam Bennerman (NCSU), Sean Dockery (Duke), Travis Garrison (Md.) and Justin Gray (WF).
