Walker Nearing Decision

Landon Walker has one, maybe two, unofficial visits to take and then the lineman will be prepared to make his final decision in "the next couple of weeks."

"I'm going to Clemson next week and I might also visit Carolina," said Walker. "I think after that I'll be ready to make my decision."

Walker doesn't have a date set for either visit, but will make his trip to Clemson sometime next week. Initially Walker was supposed to unofficially visit Chapel Hill Thursday, but those plans fell through.

"I was going to go down [to UNC], but I couldn't get out of school today," said Walker on Thursday. "There could be [a chance I don't visit UNC]. It's depending on if I get any calls from Carolina wanting me to come down there. I want to get to know the o-line coach and know how he is."

Originally Walker had narrowed his choices down to two schools, but a last minute push from North Carolina has slipped the Tar Heels into the race.

"I think you can bring North Carolina in there," said Walker. "[N.C.] State and Clemson are my favorites.

"I can't really establish a leader until I go to Clemson. I don't think it would be right to Clemson to claim a leader until after I visit there."

Duke extended Walker a scholarship offer earlier in the week bringing his offers total to six.

A 6-foot-5 260-pound offensive tackle, Walker is a two-time all-conference selection for Ronda (N.C.) East Wilkes.
