Powell: 'UNC Is My Favorite'

With the dust settling from his spring explosion of scholarship offers, Tydreke Powell is going back to a familiar stance regarding favorites.

"North Carolina is my favorite," said Powell. "It's just, as I tell everyone, I've been liking North Carolina for a long time."

Additionally, the coaching staff keeps up with Powell on a daily basis.

"They text me every day," said Powell. "It's the same old; they want me to be a Tar Heel."

Miami, Florida State, and Virginia Tech round out the reminder of Powell's current list of frontrunners, although he admits all of his offering schools are under consideration.

In addition to the members of his favorites list, Powell possesses offers from Auburn, Cincinnati, Clemson, East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Kentucky, N.C. State, South Carolina, and Virginia.

However, Powell has not received a new offer in over a month. Therefore, he has shifted his focus to preparing for the summer camping circuit.

"Not much have been going on lately [recruiting wise]," said Powell. "I've just been getting ready for camp and all that."

Over the summer Powell plans to camp at Miami, Florida, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina.

Powell, a 6-foot-4 295-pound defensive tackle from Ahoskie (N.C.) Hertford County, recorded 11 sacks during his junior season.
