Hunter Back to School?

The online UNC campus directory currently lists North Carolina sophomore defensive lineman Terry Hunter, re-fueling fans' anticipation of his possible return to school after dismissal from the football team following a Feb. 1, 2005 arrest.

However, the online resource available via the University's official school website does not provide confirmation of Hunter's current academic status.

And when asked about Hunter's potential football reinstatement, a UNC spokesperson reported to Inside Carolina via email around 5 p.m. on Thursday:

"The football staff has had no contact with Terry Hunter. If that changes, I will let you know."

IC first reported a possibility of Hunter's return to school back on Aug. 16, based on comments made by UNC head coach John Bunting and Hunter's high school coach at Wendell (N.C.) East Wake, Jimmy Williams on Oct. 13.

After a prepping at Hargrave Military Academy for a year, Hunter recorded nine tackles in 2004 for the Tar Heels, including one for a four-yard loss. But he was later kicked off the team after being cited for driving with a revoked license and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Following the charges, Bunting said Hunter was "suspended immediately and indefinitely." However subsequent comments by Bunting seemed to imply Hunter could earn his way back on the team one day.
