Paulus Helping with N.Y. Tight End

Working off of the momentum created from Mike Paulus's verbal commitment, the North Carolina coaching staff continues to recruit the state of New York hard and get its top recruits to plan campus visits.

"They text me every day and I talk to them twice a week," said Rob Gronkowski, 6-foot-6 250-pound tight end from Williamsburg (N.Y.) North. "I talk to [recruiting coordinator Dave] Brock. [He talks about] the same old stuff – about how I have to come down for a visit to see the campus and everything."

Gronkowski, doesn't have a date set, but is definitely planning to include a trip to Chapel Hill among his summer travels. He also plans to camp at Maryland, while also unofficially visiting Boston College and Clemson.

Speaking of Paulus, the four-star quarterback is pitching in by staying in Gronkowski's ear.

"[I talk to Paulus] twice a week," said Gronkowski. "[He tells me] that UNC is on a mission to get on top and they are bringing in top recruits."

With a continuous flow of new scholarship offers, Gronkowski has decided to wait until sometime later in the summer to narrow down his list of schools. However, the Tar Heels have him intrigued.

"I like [North Carolina] so far," said Gronkowski. "I just need to take a visit to see how it is."

Currently, Gronkowski holds 20-plus scholarship offers including the likes of Boston College, Clemson, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse.

During his junior season, Gronkowski caught 36 passes for 648 yards and seven touchdowns earning All-Western New York and Second Team All-State honors. On defense he added 73 tackles including five for a loss and six sacks, and forced two fumbles.
