"I really like North Carolina," Maddox said in late April. "I just like the atmosphere there at North Carolina. And I really like Coach [John] Bunting."
Prior to his full visit to Chapel Hill, Maddox told Inside Carolina that UNC had seemingly taken the lead.
"[If I had to choose today] North Carolina would probably get the nod right now," Maddox said on May 15. "They are recruiting me the hardest. They're getting some great players at different positions."
And after that visit, Maddox offered more glowing praise for the Tar Heels.
"This was the best visit I've been on so far," Maddox told Inside Carolina on May 21 of his trip to Chapel Hill. "I honestly think North Carolina has the best situation for me right now, with their running back situation, how they run the ball and how they throw it to their backs."
But will he still feel that way when he sits down with his family and finalizes his decision?
Sources close to the situation expect Maddox to select either North Carolina or South Carolina. However, Maddox does have three other finalists in Florida, Florida State and Georgia Tech - and Virginia Tech is reportedly making a last-minute push as well.
And, according to sources, the UNC coaches spoke to Maddox on the phone Thursday evening, but did not receive word of Maddox's decision.
Whatever that decision is, Inside Carolina will be at TL Hanna High School on Friday evening to bring you the news live, so stay tuned to the site and the premium football board for the breaking news ...
