While it won't be official until approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse, it appears that North Carolina's top-ranked signee will be enrolling at UNC for the 2006 season. Jarrell Miller has achieved the qualifying grades and scores, his coach informed Inside Carolina Wednesday afternoon.
"I can't tell you anything official, because I don't have the transcripts and I'm not the clearinghouse," said Highland Springs (Va.) coach Scott Burton. "But [he's qualified] according to my calculations which went hand in hand with the folks at Carolina."
The first freshmen will be enrolling at UNC in a couple weeks, and Miller is unlikely to be among that group, as the timeline for his qualification to be finalized remains up in the air.
"The transcripts will not be released until around June 25," Burton added. "And those then have to be sent to the Clearinghouse, and who knows how long that will take?"
Miller, at 6-3, 235 pounds, is ranked the No. 9 linebacker in the senior class by Scout.com. He posted 99 tackles, 17 tackles for losses and 7.5 sacks as a senior, and recorded 60 tackles, including eight for losses as a junior.
