Houston Will Announce Today

Scout.com four-star prospect Ryan Houston has worked out a date and a time with ESPN to announce the school to which he will make a verbal commitment. The 6-foot-2, 255-pound tailback from Matthews (N.C.) Butler will announce his decision live on ESPNU at 12:45 p.m. on Friday.

"I'm doing it Friday," Houston said. "I'm going to the ESPNU studios in Charlotte."

Houston said his four finalists consist of Clemson, Florida, Miami and North Carolina.

"I like Clemson because it's not too far from home, it's a big time football school, if I go there they have good competition on their roster, and it's in the ACC – a good football conference.

"I've been to Florida many times and I really like the program including their coaches. I have two brothers down there already telling me to come.

"Miami is like my dream school – I was excited when they offered me. They are top in the ACC. If I go there, I'll always be around football.

"North Carolina, I like the coaching staff and I like the football program and the academics."

Houston is the 20th ranked defensive end in the nation by Scout.com, but is mostly being recruited as a tailback. He is also considered the 53rd ranked recruit in the Southeast Region by Scout.com

As a junior at Butler High School, Houston rushed for 1,910 yards and 34 touchdowns earning All-Area honors.
