Sturdivant Returning to Chapel Hill

During North Carolina's individual rising senior camp held in June, Quan Sturdivant was among the most closely watched prospects. Sturdivant will be in Chapel Hill this weekend for the July version of the camp, but this time around he'll be the observer.

"I'll probably go down there this weekend," said Sturdivant. "I'm coming down Saturday. I'm not going to participant [in the camp], I'm just going down to chill and hang out. I'm just going down there to have a good time."

Although Sturdivant stars at quarterback for Oakboro (N.C.) West Stanly, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound jumbo athlete is now officially being recruited for the defensive side of the ball by North Carolina.

"I think they're going to recruit me at linebacker now," said Sturdivant. "That's cool with me."

In addition to the Tar Heels, Sturdivant holds scholarship offers from Florida, N.C. State, and South Carolina. However, UNC remains his leader.

"The coaches that they got at the school really make a difference," said Sturdivant. "I text Coach Dave almost everyday, probably – I text him a lot."

With a solid leader, Sturdivant has been contemplating a verbal commitment.

"Before the season starts I'll commit," said Sturdivant. "I haven't set a date."

Sturdivant has talked about the possibility of committing to the Tar Heels with the coaching staff.

"They've talked about [a verbal commitment], but there hasn't been any pressure, really," said Sturdivant. "We've just talked about a time frame [for making a commitment]. It's my decision to make it before the season."

On his way to Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Year and All-Conference honors, Sturdivant completed 99-of-179 passes (55%) for 1,794 yards and 21 touchdowns, and rushed 111 times for 745 yards (6.7-yard average). On defense he accumulated 12 tackles (4 solo), an interception and two pass breakups.
