UNC loses two players to graduation following each of the next two seasons. Holdovers from the 2006 recruiting class who plan to enroll in January will address the issue, but the staff is looking to sign 1-2 additional elite linebackers to add depth.

Currently, UNC has a soft pledge from Albert Craddock, a Scout.com four-star recruit and the 21st ranked linebacker in the nation.

Bruce Carter
6'3" 205 lbs. 4.50
Havelock (N.C.) High School

Carter Signed with UNC last February, but won't enroll until January 2007 to allow his knee to heal.

A Scout.com three-star prospect, Carter was the 64th ranked linebacker in the nation last year by Scout.com.

A gifted athlete, Carter played mostly quarterback in high school. A lot will be determined on how long it takes him to learn a new position.

During his senior season at Havelock, Carter scored 15 all-purpose touchdowns and totaled over 1,500 combined passing and rushing yards.

Albert Craddock
6'2" 200 lbs. 4.60
High Point (N.C.) Southwest Guilford High School

A Scout.com four-star prospect, Craddock is the 21st ranked linebacker in the nation by Scout.com.

Craddock verbally committed to UNC after receiving a scholarship offer during a junior day. However, he is still exploring all of his options and currently holds offers from Auburn, N.C. State, Texas, and Virginia Tech.

Craddock excels when he's in pursuit of the ball carrier - he is extremely fast and takes good angles.

During his junior season at Southwest Guilford, Craddock earned all-county and all-conference honors for his play at both tailback and linebacker. On offense, Craddock rushed 143 times for 1,070 yards [7.4-yard average] and ten touchdowns.

Wesley Flagg
6'0" 215 lbs. 4.55
New Berlin (N.Y.) Milford Prep Academy

Another 2006 signee that will enroll at UNC in January of 2007. In the meantime, Flagg will be prepping at Milford Prep Academy.

Originally, Flagg committed after UNC extended him a scholarship offer following their camp last July.

A very athletic linebacker, Flagg possesses an excellent combination of speed and power.

As a senior at Fayetteville (N.C.) Britt High School, Flagg recorded 98 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and five sacks in 11 games.

Targets With Offers
Quan Sturdivant

6'3" 220 lbs. 4.50 Oakboro (N.C.) West Stanly High School
Sturdivant is planning to make a verbal commitment in the next few months and has claimed UNC as his leader for quite some time now. If UNC receives a pledge from Sturdivant, they are likely done recruiting linebackers for the 2007 recruiting class.

An athlete in every sense of the word, Sturdivant has the straight ahead and lateral speed to play linebacker. However, a lot depends on how he adapts to a new position.

Marshall Williams
6'2" 200 lbs. 4.55 Decatur (Ga.) Southwest Dekalb High School
UNC and Vanderbilt are the only schools to extend Williams a scholarship offer, but plenty of SEC schools are interested. It appears that Williams is looking to stay in SEC country.
