Super Showcase: Curry contributes as reserve

ORLANDO -- It took JamesOn Curry a little while to get adjusted, but he certainly found plenty of admirers in Orlando.

BABC head man Leo Papile, who is also the head scout for the Boston Celtics, was impressed with Curry and his North Carolina Gaters teammates after BABC was upset by the Gaters on Wednesday.

BABC point guard Steve Hailey agreed.

"He's a real good shooter and he didn't miss much when I saw him this week," Hailey said.

Curry, who plays mostly with the 16-under squad, came off the bench throughout the Super Showcase and was on the mark from long-range. However, he did make some poor passes when he was driving the lane and also trying to find teammates cross-court.

"It's a new team for me and I haven't really practiced with them," Curry said. "I played with them at the Tournament of Champions, but that's about it."

Curry's team was eliminated by the All-Ohio Red team, which won the Peach Jam, in the second round of bracket play on Thursday. Curry had 12 points and a pair of 3-pointers in the loss. He finished the tournament averaging 9.8 points over five games, including hitting two threes in each of the last three games.

Now he will go home, relax for a couple days and then hit the weight room.

"Once I get stronger, it'll be over," Curry said.
