|2006 Depth Chart|
UNC loses two players off the depth chart to graduation following each of the next two seasons, so this is an important position of need.
Holdovers from the 2006 recruiting class who plan to enroll in January will
address part of the issue, while the Tar Heels' coaching staff hope to sign two linebacker prospects from the 2007 class.
UNC already has a soft pledge from Albert Craddock, a Scout.com four-star recruit and the 21st ranked linebacker in the nation. An commitment from Quan Sturdivant -- which seems likely -- would finish UNC's recruiting efforts at linebacker.
Carter Signed with UNC last February, but won't enroll until January 2007 to allow his knee to heal.
A Scout.com three-star prospect, Carter was the 64th ranked linebacker in the nation last year by Scout.com.
A gifted athlete, Carter played mostly quarterback in high school. A lot
will be determined on how long it takes him to learn a new position.
A Scout.com four-star prospect, Craddock is the 21st ranked linebacker in the nation by Scout.com
Craddock verbally committed to UNC after receiving a
scholarship offer during a junior day. He says is still exploring all of his
options, however, and currently holds offers from Auburn, NC State, Texas, and
Miller was on campus working out with his North Carolina teammates this summer, but family concerns have forced him to leave Chapel Hill and enroll at Fork Union Military Academy for the fall semester. Miller is expected back in January.
Last year, Miller, a Scout.com four-star prospect, was the 11th ranked linebacker in the nation.
A hard hitting linebacker, Miller plays with great lateral moment.
As a senior, Miller helped lead Highland Springs (Va.) High School to an 8-3 record as he accumulated 99 tackles including a school record 17 for a loss.

Sturdivant has toyed with the notion of committing to UNC over the last few months. He has decided to take official visits to Florida and UNC before finalizing his collegiate decision, though the Tar Heels are strongly in the lead here, according to IC's sources.
An athlete in every sense of the word, on defense Sturdivant reads plays very well.
