Sturdivant Optimistic

While North Carolina dropped their season opener to Rutgers, one very important visitor exited Kenan Stadium with a positive outlook for the rest of the Tar Heels' 2006 season.

"It went pretty good," said Quan Sturdivant. "They had a chance to win. They could definitely get better through the year."

Sturdivant, a 6-foot-3 220-pound jumbo athlete from Oakboro (N.C.) West Stanly, was not only optimistic of what he witnessed on the field, but was pretty pleased with the fan support.

"The atmosphere was crazy," said Sturdivant. "I got excited by the atmosphere."

Preceding the game, Sturdivant spent time with primary recruiter, Dave Brock.

"We talked about the game," said Sturdivant. "He said they had a chance to win, but that's football."

A North Carolina lean, Sturdivant will finalize his collegiate decision shortly after officially visiting Florida, which has recently been scheduled for September 30th when the Gators host Alabama.

Sturdivant plans to officially visit North Carolina after his trip to Gainesville, but doesn't have any plans set. This weekend, however, he is "thinking about" attending UNC's ACC opener against Virginia Tech.

Although Sturidvant is still on the mend, he will "probably" play this Friday against Piedmont (N.C.). However, he's expected to see limited reps on defense as he focuses on leading the offense.
