Culliver Again Postpones UNC Trip

Chris Culliver was expected to finally make the trip to North Carolina over the weekend, but once again some unforeseen circumstances prevented the 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back from getting to Chapel Hill.

"I didn't get a chance to go," said Culliver. "We lost Friday, so I didn't really feel like being bothered. I'm going to try to make it to one of their games, if I can."

Before the upset loss Friday, Culliver added South Carolina to his scholarship offers list. The Gamecocks, however, have a lot of ground to makeup as they currently trail four schools.

"I don't really have any favorites, but the schools I'm interested in the most right now are Florida, Florida State, and Clemson," said Culliver. "I still like North Carolina State, too."

Although it will be an uphill battle, Culliver says North Carolina is still definitely in contention.

"They have a good school [and] I like Coach [Marvin] Sanders," said Culliver. "One of the main reasons [I like them] is because he's a defensive back coach and defensive coordinator."

Culliver keeps up regularly with Sanders, his primary recruiter.

"I talk to him once every other week – something like that," said Culliver. "When I talk to him, we talk a long time."

Culliver, a former N.C. State verbal commit, attended the Wolfpack's season opener against Appalachian State. He doesn't have any plans this coming weekend, but could be in Clemson (versus North Carolina) or N.C. State (versus Boston College) the following weekend.

After the tough upset loss to Durham (N.C.) Riverside, Garner (N.C.) sports a 3-1 record. Playing wide receiver and running back on offense, Culliver has scored seven all-purpose touchdowns.
